Equinix Sydney Expansion Open for Customers

Sydney, Australia — June 6, 2007 — Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq: EQIX), the leading provider of network-neutral data centers and Internet exchange services, today announced the completion of its Sydney Internet Business Exchange™ (IBX®) center expansion. The AUD$5 million expansion, which was prompted by strong customer and market demand, is now available for new customer deployments. Among the first customers to move into the newly expanded IBX is Melbourne IT, the largest web and application hosting company in Australia.

The expansion will allow Equinix Sydney to cater to the higher power demand requirements of its customers, in addition to the increasing market demand.

"We're pleased to have Melbourne IT as one of the first customers to deploy its critical IT infrastructure into our newly expanded IBX," said Doug Oates, Managing Director of Equinix Sydney. "The Sydney IBX expansion provides us with the additional power and cooling infrastructure required to meet the increasing demands from corporations seeking to leverage Equinix's secure and robust colocation facilities, as well as the multitude of carriers offering network services at Equinix."

This deployment will supplement Melbourne IT's existing data center facilities and enhance the company's ability to provide high availability services under its WebCentral brand to corporate clients.

Melbourne IT will leverage the IBX service capability to launch its new On-Demand Managed Service (ODMS) portfolio across the region. The ODMS service portfolio has been designed to overcome a range of business challenges associated with deploying and scaling enterprise grade infrastructure in near real-time. Marketers looking to launch short term promotions will be able to utilise Melbourne IT's “Managed Campaign Service” to launch large scale promotions in days rather than weeks.

"We are seeing increased demand from corporate clients for the managed hosting services that we provide under our WebCentral brand. In particular, high performance media and entertainment sites are a real growth area for us. Consequently, we needed to expand our data center facilities in Australia to cater to the expected growth in the medium term," said Mark Rainbird, GM - Corporate & Government, Melbourne IT.

“Establishing a footprint within the Equinix IBX provides us with an environment that is similar to our own data centers and gives us the ability to provide the same high standard of hosting and innovation that our corporate customers expect, including on-demand infrastructure services, virtualisation expertise, rapid deployment and service level management,” said Glenn Gore, Chief Infrastructure Architect, Melbourne IT.

Under its WebCentral brand, Melbourne IT provides managed hosting solutions for corporate, government and enterprise clients with business-critical web applications. Melbourne IT is leveraging the network-rich environment of Equinix's Sydney IBX to implement a robust, high-performance network infrastructure. At Equinix, Melbourne IT has access to a critical mass of network service providers, giving it the greatest amount of flexibility in managing its hosting operations and enhanced end-user performance.
